Here are some helpful links to renew your Secretary
of State documents during COVID.
 


Governor Whitmer’s executive order extends expirations of driver’s licenses, state IDs and vehicle registrations through September 30. Appointments are required but first check the links below to see if you can do it online or use a self service station.

 

Customers can make an appointment up to six months in advance or for the next day online at Michigan.gov/SOS.

Appointments from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. can be booked up to six months early. Appointments from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. are reserved for customers to book one day in advance.

Morning appointments open for booking at 8 a.m. EST the previous day. Afternoon appointments open for booking at noon EST the previous day. Monday appointments open for booking Friday.

  • There is a Michigan Self Service Station in Paw Paw where you can renew existing automobile and motorcycle registrations and print the updated registration card and license plate tab for automobiles and motorcycles. Find a MI Self Service Station. Note that location hours may vary due to COVID restrictions.
